"Green Sea Turtle Being Cleaned" by Peter Liu
Green sea turtles, found in tropical and subtropical waters, are the largest of all the hard-shelled sea turtles, and can grow to more than three feet and weigh 350 pounds. They’re unique because they’re herbivorous, feeding on seagrasses and algae.
Unfortunately, they face threats such as the harvest of eggs and adults on nesting beaches and juveniles and adults on feeding grounds. Turtles can also become entangled in nets and other fishing gear, which may cause them to drown. Since 2004, the green turtle has been classified as endangered by the IUCN.
